Each year we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by organizing service projects for Charlotte area volunteers around the holiday that bears his name. These projects not only deliver valuable assistance to nonprofit organizations, schools and other service providers, but also allow participants to begin the New Year by reflecting on the meaning of Dr. King’s life of service.
For 2024, we have created both in-person and virtual project options:
IN-PERSON On Saturday, January 13, from 11am to 1pm, join us at Northside Baptist Church to help assemble snack packs for students attending tutoring and after-school programs supported by United Way.
Volunteers MUST pre-register to attend this in-person event using the form at the bottom of this page.
VIRTUAL Individuals, families, companies and other groups can organize their own kit-packing activities and then drop off their completed kits during the week of January 17-20 for distribution by United Way to our partner nonprofit agencies.Participants can also purchase items from a special Amazon Wish List that we’ve created for the MLK Call to Service.
5-DAY MLK LEARNING SERIES The 5-Day Service Learning Email series is a powerful opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of how inequity and racism affects our lives and our community.
